A national park near Hua Hin known for wild elephant sightings: rangers drive small groups in open pickups through the grassland viewing area in the late afternoon, and gaur are often seen too. At the gate it is 200 baht for non-Thai visitors plus a truck fee per group, with trucks from 14:00 to 18:00. On a training week: the trucks run in the late afternoon, so it takes the place of the afternoon session. The drive and the truck ride are all sitting, which suits a day when your legs need a break, and you are back in Hua Hin in the evening. From the camps: the park is about an hour and a half by car south of Hua Hin, where the camps on our list in the area are. Most visitors book a driver for the afternoon or join a tour with transfer, as there is no simple public transport to the gate.
