At a glance

  • You need data from the arrivals hall: Grab or Bolt, maps, and messages to your gym.
  • Our rule of thumb: about 5 GB a week (20 GB a month) with Wi-Fi at your room. Filming training or running a hotspot: take unlimited.
  • Airalo and Yesim both sell Thailand data eSIMs. Install at home, switch on when you land.
  • Longer than a month: top up in the app, or get a Thai SIM with your passport once you are settled.

Plan sizes from airalo.com/thailand-esim and yesim.app/country/thailand, checked 28 September 2026. No prices here: they show on the partner page in your currency and change with promos.

What your phone does at camp

Most of it happens in your first hour in Thailand, before you find Wi-Fi.

  • Grab or Bolt from the airport, then to the gym and back, often twice a day.
  • Maps to the gym, your room, the pharmacy and the fight-night stadium.
  • LINE or WhatsApp: gyms and room owners in Thailand often message on LINE.
  • Your bank and card apps: keep your home SIM on for their SMS codes.
  • Translate and photo menus at local restaurants.
  • A hotspot for a laptop if you work between sessions (that is when unlimited pays off).

How much data for your trip

Pick your camp length (we start from your camp plan's, if you have one) and see which plan size fits.

How long is your camp?

No camp plan yet? Start one and this guide will use its length.

Set it up before you fly

  1. 1

    Check your phone

It needs eSIM support and must be carrier-unlocked. Both partners have a compatibility check on their page.

  2. 2

    Buy and install at home

Install on Wi-Fi a few days before the flight. Check on the plan page when your days start counting.

  3. 3

Keep your home line for SMS

Set the eSIM as your data line and keep your home SIM on for calls and bank codes. Turn data roaming on for the eSIM line only.

  4. 4

    Switch on when you land

Book the Grab or Bolt from the arrivals hall with data already running. No SIM queue.

Staying longer than a month

Fixed packages last up to 30 days. Top up in the partner's app before the first runs out, or, once you know where you live, get a Thai SIM at a phone shop (bring your passport). Over 30 days you also need a visa plan: read Thailand visa basics. Data is one line in the camp budget calculator, and the rest of your first week is in first time in Thailand (apps, cash, the ride from the airport).

Finish camp planning

Data sorted. Next: cover that names Muay Thai, and the gear to pack or buy in Thailand.

FAQ

Do I need an eSIM for a Muay Thai camp in Thailand?

You need mobile data from the airport: Grab or Bolt, maps, and messages to your gym and your room. An eSIM is the easy way: you install it at home and it works when you land. An airport SIM works too, but means a queue and your passport.

How much data do I need for two weeks in Thailand?

On our rule of thumb, about 10 GB covers maps, rides, messages and some social media when your room has Wi-Fi (about 20 GB for a month). If you film training, stream, or use a hotspot, take unlimited.

Airalo or Yesim for Thailand?

Both sell Thailand data eSIMs. Airalo lists fixed lengths from 3 to 30 days with unlimited or fixed data. Yesim lists fixed data valid 30 days, or unlimited priced by the number of days you pick. Compare the price for your length on each page.

Can I use a Thailand eSIM for a month or longer?

Fixed packages last up to 30 days. Both partners offer top-ups in their app, so you can add the next month before the first runs out. For two or three months, a Thai SIM from a phone shop (passport needed) is the other option once you are settled.

Will I keep my home number?

Yes, on a phone that takes two lines: keep your home SIM on for calls and bank codes and use the eSIM for data. The plans in this guide are data only.

When should I install the eSIM?

At home on Wi-Fi, a few days before you fly. Both partners tell you to install before the trip and connect when you arrive; check on the plan page when your days start counting.
