A day out to the Living Green Elephant Sanctuary in Mae Wang, south-west of Chiang Mai: feeding the elephants with a guide, lunch, then an ATV ride through a village to small waterfalls and rice fields. Hotel pickup in Chiang Mai town. On a training week: a full day out, so keep it for your rest day. Feeding the elephants is easy; the ATV ride is bumpy and works the arms and grip a little, so ride gently if your hands or shins are sore. From the camps: Mae Wang is about an hour by car south-west of Chiang Mai, and the pickup covers stays in Chiang Mai town.
